Functional Elite Small Group Training

MUMBA offers small-group training for boys and girls in Grades 3–12. This program is designed for players who already have experience in competitive basketball or possess a foundation of basic skills and are eager to enhance their abilities.

Training sessions are now organized by skill level rather than age or grade. Each player will be evaluated during their first session to determine the most suitable group placement. If coaches determine that a player would benefit more from a different group, adjustments will be made accordingly.

WHAT IS SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Our small group training sessions will maintain a coach-to-player ratio of 1:6. The trainers and coaches leading these sessions are former high-level players or current players who have successfully transitioned into coaching. They possess extensive experience accumulated over many years. The program aims to enhance the player’s overall individual skills, such as proper shooting form, ball handling, finishing near the basket, passing, reading and reacting, and more, through practical and applicable training methods. During each session, players will get a high volume of repetitions and be given corrections and feedback between reps if needed. Additionally, players will be given the option to schedule sessions with their preferred trainers.

THE MUMBA TRAINING MISSION

Our MISSION is to impart a solid basketball foundation of basic and advanced skills to our young athletes. We strive to uphold the development progress of our athletes by equipping them with the necessary skills to excel at higher levels. (REP, AAU, OCAA, OUA, NCAA etc.)

Skill Level Reference

Intro to Training

You’re new to the game or looking to build a strong foundation. Focus areas include fundamental basketball skills, such as dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, and understanding the game’s rules. Plays in House League, School ball, U9–U11 REP.

Suggested Age Groups: Grades 3–5

Intermediate / Mid-Tier

You’ve spent a few years playing basketball recreationally or in school, or on REP teams. You have a grasp of core skills and game concepts, and are ready to refine technique, improve consistency, and develop more advanced moves.

Suggested Age Groups: Grades 5–8

High Performance / Elite

You are a REP or competitive player with multiple years of basketball experience. You compete at a high level (club teams, school varsity, or provincial circuits). Training is geared toward advanced skill development, in-game decision-making, and preparing for high-level competition.

Suggested Age Groups: Grades 7–12

Disclaimer: If coaches identify that a player is better suited for a higher or lower skill group, they will make the necessary adjustments to ensure proper placement.
